DESCRIPTION
At Kembs, a 185 m lock forms the link between the Canal of Huningue and the Alsace Grand Canal. Built in 1960 following the plans of the famous architect Le Corbusier, the lock is now classified as a historical monument.
The lock is the key to gaining access to the Rhine Island and its heron park. The bridge also leads to the oldest electric power station and offers an interesting view over the Rhine and its river traffic.Animals accepted Yes Type of site to visit Technical and industrial heritage Package visits offered Free visit Audience concerned Families -
